Recent Acquisitions & Wish List

Highlights of recent acquisitions include:

  • The Kathryn Berenson Collection of French Quilts and Textiles, a rare and unusual group of 18th and 19th century whitework, silk and printed cotton quilts;
  • A group of rallis: quilts made in the Thar Desert region located on the border of Pakistan and India;
  • Two log cabin quilts from Norway.

In addition, contemporary art quilts from British artists Pauline Burbidge, Deirdre Amsden, Lynn Setterington and Mary Fogg were acquired, as were quilts of American Artists Jan Myers-Newbury, Emily Richardson, Chris Wolf Edmonds, Ruth B. McDowell and Barbara Watler.

The International Quilt Study Center & Museum's acquisitions are made possible with the support of private funding.

Wish List

Quilts

The International Quilt Study Center & Museum is interested in expanding its collections in certain areas. In all cases, quilts with documentation of maker, date, and location are preferred.

  • Late 18th or early 19th century New England Quilts
  • Quilts from the United Kingdom: Welsh quilts, North Country Quilts, Paper template-pieced quilts
  • Seventeenth century crewel embroidered quilts
  • Corded quilts from the Netherlands
  • Quilted Palampores
  • Quilts made from quilted Petticoats
  • Pre-1830 American Quilts
  • American kit quilts designed by: Marie Webster, Anne Orr, Hubert ver Mehren.

The Center is also interested in building its American and international studio art quilt collection and would consider donations of quilts made by a number of contemporary artists.

Books

We are always expanding the curatorial research library, for use by curators, graduate students, visiting scholars, and historians. The following books would be wonderful additions to our library:
